Assessment of Ambient Air Pollution Pattern in Ikpeshi Community Edo State Nigeria Using Geostatistical Analysis

Understanding the Spatial distribution of ambient air quality in an active mining and solid mineral processing community is important order to determine pollution hot spots cold spots, as well trend. This will help Air Quality Managers evaluate areas that are highly exposed for mitigation purposes. In this study, dust particles form PM2.5, PM10 were measured on weekly basis a period one year at 73 sampling points located Ikpeshi, Edo State, Nigeria using Double Parameter HoldPeak HP-5800D model Laser PM2.5 Meter. Geospatial data was also collected by means Garmin GPSmap 78s model. The preprocessed MS Excel 2010 computer software obtain mean pollutant concentrations two parameters. PM analyzed mapped ArcGIS 10.0 generate various geostatistical surfaces describe pattern spatial pollutants community. predicted ranged from 5.25 88.75µg/m3 8.15 552.85µg/m3 PM10.
